Delete my data

This page explains data deletion for War of Words by GottaPlay, including the anonymous player profile used by online features.

Delete directly in the app

Open Settings → Play & privacy → Delete online profile, then confirm. This permanently removes the current online profile and its associated Daily Challenge and Endless records. Local progress and records remain. Delete before uninstalling, because uninstalling may remove the session needed to identify your profile. Online play after deletion creates a new profile.

Request deletion without the app

  1. Contact the verified privacy mailbox listed below with the subject War of Words data deletion.
  2. Provide the nickname used, the mode, approximate date and score of a submitted result, and whether you want all associated online data deleted or only a particular result. Do not include passwords, access tokens, session files or identity documents.
  3. GottaPlay will need to verify that the request relates to your profile. Nicknames are not unique, so a nickname alone may be insufficient. Further non-sensitive details may be requested. Keep the game installed until identity has been resolved if possible.

What the request covers

A full online-profile deletion request covers the anonymous authentication profile and its associated nicknames, ranked Daily Challenge attempts and move records, and submitted Endless results. Deleted results no longer appear on active leaderboards. Website access logs, provider backups and support correspondence may be handled separately under applicable retention arrangements.

What remains and for how long

Online game records have no scheduled automatic expiry. In-app deletion removes the profile and associated game records from the active service. Provider backups, technical logs and support correspondence may remain under separate provider or legal retention arrangements. Any applicable exception and duration will be explained when a request is handled.

Delete optional analytics

Starting with version 0.1.29, open Settings → Game analytics → Withdraw and delete. Collection stops immediately and a server deletion request is submitted; if offline, it waits for reconnection. The game confirms completion only after the server confirms it. This preserves local progress and is separate from online-profile deletion. Minimal revocation/status records and provider logs or recovery copies have separate retention periods; irreversibly anonymous summaries cannot be removed per player. See the analytics retention policy. For help without the app, contact office@gottaplay.net with the game name; do not send authentication files or tokens.

Delete progress on your phone

Use Android’s app storage controls to clear War of Words data, or uninstall the app. This removes local progress and preferences, subject to device backups. This does not remove online records. It can also remove the session used to identify your online profile, so request online deletion first where possible.

How requests are handled

You can contact GottaPlay at the privacy address above. Version 0.1.25 adds an in-app deletion control under Settings → Play & privacy → Delete online profile. Confirming it permanently deletes that online profile and its associated game records; local progress remains. Playing online again creates a new profile. If deletion fails, the app retains the session so you can retry. This static page cannot itself delete server data. Email requests require manual handling and verification of profile ownership. No request is submitted simply by reading this page.
